When you are feeling down and out that you cannot grow a fat healthy baby...plant some basil. Seriously. I have just harvested some of my basil and plan to try 3 different pesto recipes tonight. I will do a taste test with hubby this weekend and freeze a ton of it to use all winter.
This is what I gathered:
Here are the plants....after cutting. Not even a dent.
And here is my first garden ever. I am such a proud mama.

Wow, that's an impressive crop of basil!
Wow!! I was just wondering if I could plant a herb garden next year and actually make it grow. I will plant basil for sure!
That looks mouth-wateringly yummy.
When are we going to get to see your yard in person?
Gorgeous. I'm totally jealous...
Hey!!! Mr. sushinut actually just bought a plant for us! We don't have a garden so it will be in a pot. But your garden is lovely! Have a good time with the Pesto...that's one thing I just love to smell is the fragrance of fresh pesto when you walk in the door! It's heavenly!
You put me to shame. My basil was doing so good, but then the heat of the summer slowed it down and it is just tall and wimpy looking. There will be no pesto for me:)
Congrats on your first year crop. Seems you have a green thumb...
Wow, that is impressive! I'm jealous thinking about all of the delicious recipes that will go into.
Wonderful idea! I remember feeling like that about my garden...had to make SOMETHING grow!
I have faith that you will grow beautiful, healthy fat babies veeery soon.
Mmmmmmm...I love basil and your crop looks amazing! I was a gardening/planting MANIAC this summer. It was like I had to prove to myself that I could successfully nurture and grow something. Looks like you're doing a great job of tending to your baby plants! :)
Wow, you're going to have to give me tips for my first garden ever. Basil is awesome b/c you can make pesto and freeze it.
I love your phrase "fat healthy baby" ...It's your signature :)
Let us know how the pesto goes, I have a ton of basil and keep staring at it wondering how many grilled tomato halves, with a leaf of basil and fresh shaved parmesan I can eat... (which is a lot, mind you)
Ha! I just bought a basil plant a week ago and it is already near death. You have a knack!!
I LOVE pesto! Your garden is fantastic. I am impressed (and a bit jealous).
I love basil. Unfortunately, so do the many squirrels who lurk around my garden.
