I pushed for what I needed

After review the MA board, checking with some of you ute veterans and looking over my peri's recommendation, I was not satisfied with just a manual check of my cervix. My peri specifically recommended that I get a cervix ultrasound at both 20 and 24 weeks to rule out the relationship of incompetent cervix and Mullerian Anomalies. So I emailed my doctor with a firm request to be re-checked this week. She emailed me and called me and I was in today. It is long at 4.8 and she says that it will unlikely silently change drastically in the next 4 weeks. I am to look out for any changes like any contractions or pressure or spotting. If any occur, I need to head in. If all goes smoothly, I will go back in 4 weeks for another check.

I am now satisfied. Well, I did not see the little bugger so I am mostly satisfied!

good for you for demanding what you needed and wanted - great practice for labor and motherhood. I am so glad your Dr. responded and that your cervix is looking good. But bummer for not getting to see Sprout. :(

So glad you doctor listened to you. I know you must feel a little more confident knowing your cervix is long

I think it's hard to push for things with doctors. I'm glad you did, Meg. I think you made a good decision to push for the care/tests you needed.

XO.

I recently suffered my first miscarriage at 12 weeks and I have found that blogs like yours have helped me and inspired me. I'm so glad you're finally experiencing pregnancy and that it's going so smoothly. Thank you for sharing your story, and know that it has helped me so much.

4.8 is great!
Shortening happens without any signs, contractions etc. I went from 3.6 to 1.9 in 2 weeks at around 23 weeks. Be careful. A month is a little long... I might ask to push it up a bit. A good compromise would be 3 weeks.
Keep us posted.

I am glad to hear the cervix is looking good. With me, they checked it every four weeks until 36 weeks, you should demand the same. And ultrasound checks of it too!

But I am thrilled everything is looking good for your little man. I can't believe you are more than halfway there! Yay!

I came across your blog and read as many posts as I could (i'm at work) and I can totally relate to all the worry and anxiety you've been having. I have had four miscarriages and one ectopic and am currently 15 1/2 weeks pregnant with my sixth, so I can truly say, among with many others, that I know how you feel. I look forward to hearing your progress.

I had the same cervix check too and they told me they just check once because if it hasn't been a problem by that time then it's very unlikely as you say that it will silently pose a problem later. I thought that was weird but figured I'd throw caution to the wind and go with it. Glad to hear everything was well!
