So I am laid up on the couch, cannot seem to eat a thing and have not slept in 3 nights. I wish they were from Sprout. Instead I think I have an infection someplace in my noggin. I had a elevated fever Sunday night so went to the ER, got fluids and told my WBC count was high but no sign of infection. My throat, ears and cough have gotten so much worse since then. Tylenol is not helping and I am down right miserable. I have an appointment in an hour and I really hope he has some magic wand to rid me of this swallowing razor blade feeling. Ugh....
UPDATE: Went to doc. Ears and throat are inflamed but no strep. My WBC was 10.9 at the hospital, which was slightly elevated (anything under 10.5 is normal). He wrote a script for Amoxicillan for me but told me it is not necessary. I did not pick it up and am not sure if I want to take it. I do not want to take antibiotics just for the hell of it. My doc thinks I just have a bad head cold and have a lot of drainage that is irritating my throat and coming back up in a bad, phlegmy cough (lovely ey?). If it turns into a sinus infection, the script is ready to go.
I am taking tylenol every 6 hours, saline nose drops and salt water gargling are happening often and I have some delicious cherry cough drops. I ate the first thing just now which was good...

Hmmm . . . the last I checked a high WBC ~was~ a sign of infection.
I hope you found your magic wand!
hope the doc can help straighten things out. Gargle with salt water? That's all I got:(
feel better
Ick, sorry you're so sick! Hopefully the doctor will be able to give you some sort of relief. Did they think your WBC count was high just due to being pregnant?
You want to be careful taking antibiotics in your first trimester. Make sure to clear it with the doc before taking it, and research it yourself as well. I recommend getting a neti pot to irrigate your sinuses before resorting to the antibiotics!! I would only use the antibiotics if 1) you prove you have a bacterial infection (if it's viral, antibiotics are worthless) and 2) it's safe for pregnancy.
I hope it's just a yucky head cold and you get over it soon! Feel better!
The high wbc count might be from just being pregnant. And honestly that's borderline. Mine was 13 at one point and they could never find the reason behind it but both my RE and my obgyn instantly identified it with it being because I'm pregnant...and especially high because it was twins. Glad you don't have strep. Just take it easy. When I had the stomach flu I was freaked out too but I just took it easy and didn't take anything. If eventually went away.
