Today was wonderful and excruciating.
Last year, we did projects for other moms. This year, Sprout surprised me with funding for a massage and 2 packages of peanut butter cups. We spent all weekend planting our garden and reflecting on our last two years. I received many well wishes for a happy mother's day and I felt so special and Sprout celebrated me by kicking all day as I bent over the baby veggies. We also smartened up this year and put up a big fence to keep the naughty labrador out of the garden.
I also received word that my dear friend was killed on Saturday in a fatal motorcycle accident. He and I were very close in high school and when he returned to Colorado from fall break in 1998, he took me back with him. He introduced me to my husband 11 years ago and in many ways is responsible for how fortunate my life is right now. We just spent last weekend enjoying his visit to Denver and hearing his stories from a fabulous surfing trip to Costa Rica. I will miss him more than words can say.

Oh Meg, I am so sorry about your friend. The death of someone special is very hard, but it is even worse that he was young. My husband has a motorcycle... it is a sore spot for me for reasons like this.
On a good note, happy Mother's Day- sweet that Sprout indulged your sweet tooth!
Sprout is already a generous kid!

I too am so sorry to hear about your friend. That has to be very hard. I am scared to death of motorcycles. I also new someone that was killed at a very young age. And my dad used to own one as a teenager and broke his arm 3 times on it! You'd think he would have learned after the second time.
Glad you had a happy Mother's day. Sprout is gonna have the best mom ever! :)
