So I am about to eat the entire cupboard of food, I am crampy and I am looking longingly at a bottle of red wine. Yep, AF is making her descent for an arrival sooner than I had hoped, I think.
My HSG will be scheduled as soon as I hit cycle day 1 and will ONLY be done on a Monday or a Tuesday. I think they schedule after blood stops (around CD6) and before ovulation. Now, I already know that even if AF comes tomorrow, I am not going to have it done on the 4th or 5th since my AF typically lasts longer than 5 or 6 days. This puts me at the 11th or 12th, which could be as late as CD12...which is quite close to the big O.
My question is, after the HSG, can we really try this month? I think not. I am coming to this conclusion without any true back-up for my claim but I am assuming I cannot have sex immediately after the procedure and the x-ray dye may interfere with my sperm party? Right????

Can you shag so soon?

We did try after my HSG, but there is a specific waiting period of a few days (if I remember correctly). I was a little nervous about it, but everything was fine.
Good luck with the procedure and I hope you receive some long awaited answers.
i had 2 hsg, and both my dr's stated that my hsg's had to be between cd5-9. They also told me that you can shag away 24-36 hours after the procedure as along as it was not painful for me. Good luck to you
Don't know about whether you can have sex after but you can't before. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to try though.
Good question. I was just thinking about that even though I've got a couple of months before we can even think about starting to try again (pending test results as well).
I don't remember having a waiting period, but definitely try because you actually have increased fertility on the month of the HSG. Sometimes there is a partial blockage in a tube that is pushed open due to the dye.
Ooops, forgot to ask you to email me (thetowncriers@gmail.com). I need an email address for the book tour because we do some of the question stuff behind the scenes via email.
We were told not to have sex before the HSG, but afterwards it was fine. Check with your doctor, of course. I think you should be fine to try. Good luck!
I have had two HSG's and never was told any sort of instructions partaining to needing to abstain, etc.... Both my HSG's were on CD10 - two different clinics virtually insisted on that day both times. The first HSG was so painful I didn't do anything for 48 hours. The last one? I think I waited 24 hours. But yeah, try to get it not too close to ovulation. I can't imagine the dye is good for the sperm. Also, ask if they're using water or oil soluable dye. Oil is more expensive for them, but it's the only one that has shown increased pregnancy rates with in the studies. Both my clinics used water, boo!
